“The Hegel Music Systems Röst is a smart choice for people looking to buy one device that lets you play your stored and streamed digital music, music from other sources like CD spinners and turntables (you'll have to add your own phono amp), while driving any reasonable speaker and 'phones to musically balanced and delicate satisfaction.”
    — Michael Lavorgna,

The Röst is truly the "voice of Hegel." With the patented SoundEngine amplifier technology, highly advanced preamplifier and delicately designed digital-to-analog converter, the Röst sounds fluidly natural and dynamic. It preserves all the tiny details that create the feeling of being there, and delivers deep, thundering bass when needed. The Röst easily connects to any device you want — a CD-player, a streamer, a computer or Google Cast Audio. You can connect your iPhone, Macbook or AppleTV using AirPlay, or even integrate a Sonos Connect. The choice is yours. Hegel Röst is designed to make everyday devices sound as good as possible, and to make audiophile devices sound even better. This is achieved by using proprietary technology developed in-house by Hegel’s engineers.

The Röst is available in a smooth, painted, aluminum and steel chassis. Even the knobs are made of solid aluminum, and have the same comfortable touch. Together with the white, slightly dimmed OLED display, this is a unit that will look beautiful in your home. Ready to be used with your speakers or headphones, the Röst comes with a remote control, made from a solid block of aluminum, but is also IP-controllable and may be integrated in most smart-home solutions.

The unique and patented Hegel SoundEngine local error cancelling system prevents distortion in the audio amplifier circuit stages, preserving the original details and the dynamic range in the original music signal. The end result is a much cleaner music signal with a larger dynamic range and lower distortion. SoundEngine combines the advantage of class AB-amplifier and the advantage of class A-amplifiers, without the drawbacks of class A and class AB-amplifier technologies. SoundEngine cancels crossover distortion found in all types of class-AB amplifiers.

DualAmp Technology
All Hegel audio amplifiers are using a new kind of proprietary distributed amplifier technology called DualAmp Technology, which provides lower total distortion and a higher dynamic range than normal audio amplifiers where the voltage gain stages and current gain stages are combined in the same amplifier module. DualAmp Technology separates the voltage gain stage and the current gain stage into two completely different stages. First the music signal goes to the voltage gain stage, amplifying only the voltage level of the music signal. By doing only voltage gain in this first stage, Hegel can use amplifier building blocks that are specially designed to do voltage amplification. After the separate voltage gain stage, the current gain stage does only current gain and nothing else. Separating these two stages keeps the sensitive parts of the voltage gain stages away from the large speaker currents in the current output stage.

DualPower Technology
Normal audio amplifiers use the same power supply for the different amplifier blocks within the audio amplifier. Hegel integrated amplifiers and power amplifiers use completely separate DualPower power supplies for the input and voltage gain stages, and for the current output stages of the audio amplifier. The custom-designed Hegel power transformers have separate DualPower windings feeding independent high speed rectifiers and high capacity power supply capacitors. By using the DualPower power supply technology, Hegel amplifiers prevent disturbances from the high currents flowing in the loudspeakers entering the sensitive input gain stages and voltage gain stages.

Almost all HiFi CD Players today employ asynchronous upsampling to convert digital audio data to analog audio. Hegel found that using this kind of asynchronous converter technology actually converts jitter error into amplitude error, giving less than optimal sound quality. Hegel uses a new digital-to-analog conversion technology called synchronised upsampling. This new technology results in higher resolution and less distortion, for dramatically improved sound quality. The SynchroDAC technology is used together with the Direct MasterClock technology to keep jitter error and digital-to-analog conversion errors to a minimum.
