Our Boulder location opened in 1981. It features many of the same attributes of our flagship Denver store, including home theater vignettes that let you truly experience our systems in a home-like environment. We also have great demonstration rooms for high-performance two-channel music systems.
Of course, the thing that really distinguishes us is the experience and expertise of our people. Click on Our People tab above to find out more about some of the valued associates who work in our Boulder store.

If you’re interested in performance that’s a cut above, you’ll want to visit this outstanding demo room. It features speakers from B&W, Sonus faber and GoldenEar. The audiophile-level components are from Classé, McIntosh, Moon, PrimaLuna and more. Whether you’re looking for a state-of-the-art music system or you’re more interested in home theater, you’ll find some great options.
Here in the beautiful Library Theater, premium amplifiers and sound processors provide an impressive level of sonic sophistication, while the big 70-inch flat-panel TV delivers pristine images. The books in the built-in bookcases enhance the acoustics of the room, and the components are discretely stored in the custom cabinetry. You’ll definitely want to grab a seat and have a listen.
All the equipment in the 2-channel room offers serious performance for the dollar. There’s a nice selection of almost every type of speaker, from floorstanders to bookshelf monitors, and even outdoor and computer models as well. This area also features receivers, amps and pre-amps from Denon, NAD, Peachtree Audio, and more.
Proving that you don’t need a huge space to bring the movie theater experience home, this system packs maximum wallop in a modest-sized room. Front-projection video gives you a screen size measured in feet rather than inches, while the plush theater seating gives you maximum comfort. Custom cabinetry provides an unobtrusive home for the advanced electronics and a perfect foundation for the highperformance bookshelf speakers.
Flat-panels rule the video world, and here’s where you can view the best LCD, LED and plasma displays available today. Unlike the big box stores which display their sets in brightly lit, warehouse-like conditions, our more intimate viewing area has adjustable lighting to more closely approximate conditions in your own home.

Rhode Island native Bob Murphy is longtime veteran in the home electronics business. After working in an audio store and then as a manufacturer’s rep for several years, Bob joined the ListenUp staff in 1981 and was instrumental in opening the Boulder store. He subsequently moved to the Denver location in the mid-eighties and helped start the video division, which specialized in laser discs, front projectors and surround sound — all before the term “home theater” had even been coined.Bob came back to the Boulder store in 1990, and he’s now the store manager. “The industry continues to be fun and interesting to me. I enjoy coming to work every day — it’s fun to face new challenges, and to stay ahead of the latest technologies.” And all while living in the wide open spaces…

Jim Kearns has been a salesman in our Boulder location since 1989. “I’m originally from Ridgewood, New Jersey. I’ve been an audio enthusiast since the early seventies, and actually in the audio/video business since 1984. Before that I was a carpenter who did some remodels for audio stores. I have been in sales for my entire tenure here, and I really enjoy being able to meet a lot of people from many backgrounds. But enough about me…”

Originally from Dallas, Drew Prisoc has quite an eclectic skill set — vocalist, musician, recording engineer, and custom installer. Today he handles the documentation and schematics for all the systems created in our Boulder location, in addition to managing all the installations and helping out with a fair amount of system design.
Drew started off in ListenUp’s Commercial department, where he was the lead technician on many boardroom renovations and the like. In 2003 he transferred to our Boulder store and became immersed in residential installations. “I love the residential side. Most commercial systems have a certain sameness, especially corporate boardrooms. But because home systems are so personal, there’s a much greater degree of customization. That makes it more of a challenge, but also more rewarding.”
