ListenUp has some big things in store, literally, in Colorado Springs. We’ve purchased the building that formerly housed the Drexel Heritage Furniture Store, 888 E. Woodmen Road, and now are in the process of renovation with a goal of a Nov. 1 opening. Denver-based ListenUp opened its current Colorado Springs store at 230 North Tejon St. in 1989.
“We are excited to mark our 20th anniversary in the city with this new freestanding store that will allow us to better serve our clients,” said ListenUp co-founder Walt Stinson.
The new location will have significantly expanded space for home-like demonstration rooms and lifestyle vignettes, allowing customers to get a more accurate idea of how various products and systems actually perform in real-world scenarios.
“The big box stores just aren’t designed to adequately demonstrate today’s advanced technologies,” says Stinson, “and smaller ‘custom’ installers generally don’t have showrooms. We, on the other hand, think it’s vitally important that our clients can actually ‘test-drive’ the equipment they’re buying — especially when it comes to speakers and high-end music systems, whose appreciation can be fairly subjective.”
ListenUp’s current location will remain open for business until the move to the new store. It’s worth a visit to the old location on North Tejon Street because they’re having a moving sale, with items up to 60% off.
