Walt Stinson selected for Consumer Electronics Hall of Fame

ListenUp co-founder is one of only five retailers to ever achieve this coveted honor

Walt Stinson, co-founder and president of ListenUp, has been voted into the Consumer Electronics Hall of Fame. The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA®) announced the 2009 class of inductees on April 22, during CEA’s Washington Forum, a two-day technology policy conference held at the JW Marriott in Washington, D.C.

Inductees in previous years have included such luminaries as Alexander Graham Bell, Thomas Edison, Guglielmo Marconi and Sony founder Akio Morita, and this year's list includes Steve Jobs of Apple.

"It's a tremendous honor to be in such august company," said Stinson when informed of the award. "I share this honor with my wife, Mary Kay, and my friend Steven Weiner, my co-founders at ListenUp. I'm also incredibly grateful for all the dedicated employees and loyal clients we've had the pleasure of working with over the years."

About the Consumer Electronics Hall of Fame
The CE Hall of Fame was created in 2000 as an opportunity to honor the visionaries who have paved the way for the products and services that are changing the way we live. Each year a new group of inventors, engineers, business leaders, retailers and journalists are inducted into the CE Hall of Fame.
This year's winners will be inducted at a special dinner and ceremony during CEA’s Industry Forum to be held in Phoenix, Arizona October 18-21, 2009.

The CE Hall of Fame includes inventors, executives, engineers, retailers and journalists who are selected by an independent panel of industry judges. The judging for 2009 inductees took place at the Warwick Hotel in New York on February 24h. Nominations were submitted by industry professionals and media.

Gary Shapiro, president and CEO of CEA, praised the new inductees for their efforts to improve the lifestyles of consumers all over the world. “These individuals have contributed enormously to the growth of the consumer electronics industry. They are truly deserving of this honor,” he said.
