On Monday night CBS4 News did a report on ways to manage the energy efficiency of your television. In many cases, it’s a simple matter of using your remote control to change the settings from what is used in a store (often called “vivid”) to a lower level that looks just as good but significantly lowers power usage. Dave Jackson, ListenUp’s general manager, helped CBS4 reporter Alan Gionet with the story. See the full video here.

In a subsequent interview, Jackson said that changing these settings will dim the image, but reminds “how bright do you really need it? When we do home theater installations, we generally take TVs out of what we call the ‘showroom mode’ because these TVs are often seen in a darker environment, they don’t need to be that bright.” Jackson said ListenUp also can help with a professional calibration of the brightness of your TV.
