Before coming to ListenUp, Kevin Russell was a flight attendant for 10 years — which may explain why he still makes sure all our theater recliners are in their full upright positions. He’d always had a passion for music, so when he and his wife moved to the Washington Park neighborhood in 1988 he applied for a job at ListenUp.

“I have no idea what they saw in a 33-year old former flight attendant with no retail experience, but they gave me a shot at it and I never looked back.”

This faith was amply rewarded, as Kevin has been one of ListenUp’s top salespeople. Though he works in the Denver retail store, he’s also been involved in some very sophisticated custom home systems. After one especially positive sales experience Kevin received a thank you letter from a grateful customer, in which she quoted from the I Ching: “Music has the power to ease tension within the heart and to loosen the grip of obscure emotions.”

“This is one of those notes that reminds me what it is we really do here at ListenUp,” says Kevin. He’d also like to know if you need a pillow or a blanket.
