Jay-Z has gone on to oversee his own label, the Roots are playing late-night TV with Jimmy Fallon, LL Cool J’s an actor, most recently on NCIS: Los Angeles. But back in the day they all recorded for Def Jam, along with a crowded house of other well know rap and R&B notables. All of which you can relive on the new boxed set, Def Jam Recordings 25th Anniversary, a five-disc recounting of the influential label founded by Rick Rubin and Russell Simmons. Other acts you can find on this collection: Nas, Rihanna, Public Enemy.
