The long throw 5-inch woofer makes extreme bass for the size and the silk-dome tweeter is smooth and musical, making them perfect for digital music.

The DS5.5s have a great bass output reaching down to 50 Hz, an unusually deep level of bass reproduction in a speaker this size. If you do use a sub, it can be crossed over very low, so it becomes un-localizable and transparent. The overall result when blended with the DS5.5's silk dome tweeter is nothing short of magically musical.
