- Complete system design allows simplified set up and control
- Satellites are easily mounted on the wall or with the included stands
- Unique “flat” subwoofer can be placed nearly anywhere
"Okay, I need to remind one and all (and myself) that this is a $2,000 matched system. Yet in everything but deepest bass power, it should hold its own rather well with plenty of larger, more costly designs, including some with small-tower fronts. And if its balance falls a hair toward the warm-and-seductive, that may well be a deliberate design choice, and one that most owners will approve. All in all, NHT’s Verve System is finely flexible and immensely attractive solution to the looks/sonics conundrum.”
—Daniel Kumin, Sound & Vision magazine
It seems the video portion of home entertainment gets all the attention these days, but it’s worth remembering that the audio part of your system actually gets used even more, because it’s on for music, too! That’s why NHT has designed the Verve series of complete system solutions that perfectly complement your HDTV. Verve systems come in a variety of different configurations, both with and without the company’s separate components (preamp/processor and 5-channel amplifier).
The Verve 5.1 Speaker-only Home Theater System featured here offers three large satellites, two small satellites and the unique Verve powered flat subwoofer. The Verve large satellites feature an acoustic suspension, three-way design, with a coaxial driver containing a 3/4” tweeter and a 3” midrange drive unit supported by dual 4” woofers. They are designed for use as front and center channels, offering wide dispersion in both horizontal and vertical planes. Serving in the surround positions, the Verve small satellite is essentially the same speaker as the large, only with a single woofer.
One of the advantages in designing a dedicated system is that bass response relative to the satellites is known, which allowed NHT engineers to simplify setup and control of the Verve subwoofer. Verve omits the subwoofer filter and phase controls found on most generic subwoofer designs, instead opting to include only an on/off switch and a level control that you can use to adjust bass response during initial set-up.
The acoustic suspension Verve subwoofer boasts a unique, flat design measuring only 14” x 24” x 6” (H x W x D), with power and signal connections located on the bottom of the cabinet for placement flexibility and clean wire management. Thanks to this form factor, it can be placed against a wall or flat against a couch or under a table. The Verve sub includes two active aluminum cone 10” drivers powered by an internal 200-Watt, cool-running digital amplifier that permits high output with extraordinarily low distortion. An audio sensing circuit automatically turns the subwoofer off and on based on whether a signal is present.
With today’s flat-panel TV’s being mounted on walls and stands, NHT designed Verve satellites with an integrated, removable table stand. When detached, the satellite is easily mounted to a wall by way of an included wall-mount key that can be re-located to allow for vertical or horizontal orientations.
