The best of both worlds
Fast Facts
The NHT Four is essentially a world-class satellite mounted on top of a 10” subwoofer, giving you the advanced attributes of both. Features include:
- 4-way design for incredible full-range sound
- NHT’s exclusive midrange/tweeter assembly offers a large listening area, low distortion, and higher power handling
- 6.5” aluminum cone bass driver for forceful, detailed mid-bass
- 10” side-firing subwoofer cranks out authoritative deep bass
Unbeatable detail and bass
Combine the articulate detail of a 3-way monitor with the bone-jarring yet accurate bass of a 10” side-firing subwoofer, and you’ve got the NHT Four. This attractive floorstanding loudspeaker starts with the design of the NHT Three, and then adds a 10” side-firing subwoofer to provide the true, deep bass response needed for the ultimate home cinema experience. For even better performance, the Four can be bi-amplified with NHT’s optional A1 amplifier and X2 crossover.
NHT’s graceful cabinets place every driver in the optimum acoustical environment. The cabinet sides’ variable radius edges aid the dispersion of midrange and high frequency sounds, while careful placement of the Four’s built-in subwoofer guarantees tremendous deep bass response in even large rooms.
A breath of fresh air
The top section of the Four incorporates an acoustic suspension design that uses nature’s perfect spring force — air — to control the cone motion instead of a heavy, unpredictable mechanical suspension. It takes a little more amplifier power to do an acoustic suspension design justice, but the greatly decreased distortion, deeper bass response, and increased detail are well worth it.
Two drivers on one plate
By using a unique tweeter/midrange assembly that mounts two low-distortion drivers close together on a single plate, NHT has created a speaker with a larger listening area, lower distortion, and higher power handling than previous designs.
The perfect frame
The 6.5” woofer features a frame made from BMC (Bulk Molding Compound). Designers usually have to choose between inexpensive, mechanically sound materials such as ABS plastic and stamped steel, or expensive materials such as cast aluminum or magnesium that are ideal mechanically and acoustically. BMC is the best of both worlds: a cost-effective material that is immensely stiff, and easily shaped into acoustically ideal forms.
Acoustically sound, environmentally friendly — and affordable
NHT makes its cabinets with MDF, a board manufactured primarily of wood residues from the production of lumber and plywood, with a low percentage of virgin tree wood. The cabinets are hand-finished with 7 coats of polyurethane which is applied in a “solid particle” method that’s safe for the environment. This finish is then sealed with 2 coats of automotive grade clear-coat to protect the cabinet for years.
By using materials such as MDF in the construction of their cabinets and avoiding exotic wood veneers, NHT makes acoustically sound, furniture-grade cabinets that are environmentally friendly and affordable to produce.
