Part of Definitive's acclaimed Reference Architectural Speaker series, the UIW Reference Ceiling Speaker III (RCS III) is perfect for bringing discreet high-performance home theater and/or music systems into every room in your house. It can be placed in any position in your custom-installed home theater: front left, center or right channel as well as a rear or side surround speaker. It can also be used as a left or right speaker in a high quality stereo music system.

It's good to have some closure
The performance of built-in speakers with open backs depends on the nature of the wall/ceiling cavity behind the speaker. The RCS III, on the other hand, features a non-resonant sealed enclosure made of medite (a dense wood product) to deliver tight, detailed bass and uncolored midrange reminiscent of freestanding speakers. Rotating dogleg clamps and substantial wood screws make the RCS III easy to install in either new or existing construction and provide secure, non-resonant mounting for ultimate audiophile performance that's free of buzz and vibration.

Quite an array of technology
The RCS II features a D'Appolito driver array (a 1-inch pure aluminum tweeter flanked by two 4-1/2-inch cast-basket bass/midrange drivers) as well as two 5-1/4 x 4-1/8 pressure-coupled planar low bass radiators for further enhanced deep bass. The whole array is angled down and aimed at the listening area; proprietary Wave Launch (patent pending) baffle geometry and acoustic treatment materials serve to create the illusion that the speakers are directly in front of the listener rather than up in the ceiling.

Subwoofer integration unparalleled for an in-ceiling model
Its smooth and controlled roll-off allows the RCS III to blend with a subwoofer more effectively than any previous in-ceiling system. Definitive's IWSub 10/10 in-wall subwoofer is the perfect complement to the RCS II for unmatched performance in a stealth home theater.

You can build a serious built-in home theater system by matching any combination of Definitive Reference Series in-wall speakers, such as the in-ceiling RCS II, RCS III, or the in-wall RLS II or RLS III across the front stage as left, center and right channel speakers with either the RSS II or RSS III as surrounds.
