The Definitive Technology UIW 83/A in-ceiling speaker features a high output 8-inch driver and 1-inch pure aluminum dome tweeter perfectly blended with a complex phase-coherent Linkwitz-Riley crossover network. The UIW 63/A is perfect for front, center and/or surround channel use in a stealth home theater; it will also produce exceptional sound throughout your home as part of a whole-house music system.
A breeze to install, and they can match any décor
The UIW 83/A is easy to install even if you're not that handy around the house.
Precision templates are included to make cutting the right size hole a snap,
and a locking-arm mounting system grabs your wall with high tension clamps
at the turn of a screw, to stiffen the baffle and eliminate resonance. Rough-In
Kits for new construction are available, too. UIW 83/As are easy to paint
so they will seamlessly blend into any room, and they're moisture-resistant
for kitchen and even bathroom installations.
Pure aluminum dome tweeters
Definitive's proprietary tweeter (a magnetic fluid-cooled moving-coil tweeter
dome of Pure Aluminum) combines the performance advantages of both metal
domes (greater clarity) and soft domes (smoother sound and better dampening)
into one state-of-the-art design. You'll hear greater detail and clarity
along with more accurate imaging.
High-definition bass/midrange drivers
Aerodynamically designed baskets minimize reflections of the sound radiating
from the back of the cones and preserve structural and magnetic integrity
for significant performance advantages in the areas of bass reproduction,
lifelike midrange clarity and dynamic range.
Rigid, low profile frames
Molded of a glass-filled polymer compound to eliminate baffle resonance, the
UIW 55's frame keeps the sound pure by defeating diffraction, providing a
wide, dynamic sound-stage while minimizing resonance and coloration.

All Definitive UIW models share the same technologies and sonic signature and
may be mixed and matched to create a high-performance built-in home theater.
UIW models can also be employed with freestanding Definitive speakers with
