Home theater sound reproduction places heavy demands on the center channel speaker, which often handles 50% or more of the program material. It is no place to compromise and settle for second best. All Definitive center channel models are designed with the same rigid standards and high-performance goals as their main left and right front speakers, and the C/L/R 2300 is perfectly timbre-matched to any of Definitive's Bipolar and Studio Monitor models such as the BP7006. The C/L/R 2300's balanced frequency response, wide bandwidth and precise clarity also make it a great match for high-end front left/right speakers from other manufacturers.

Built-in powered subwoofer makes an audible difference
The revolutionary C/L/R 2300 features a powerful built-in 8-inch powered subwoofer driven by a 150-watt digital amplifier. Its upward-firing long-throw woofer only requires 1 inch of clearance, so it works perfectly even when you put it in a cabinet. The purpose of putting a subwoofer in the center channel, beyond putting more bass energy into the room, is to add full bass capability to the center channel itself. The difference this makes is absolutely audible and very dramatic. It gives you a truly full dynamic range and full frequency center channel that actually outperforms many floor-standing main L&R speakers, allowing you to set the center channel setting on your Dolby Digital receiver to "Large." With the C/L/R2300 you will fully realize the performance potential of the center channel program material as the movie director intended it to be heard.

Advanced cabinet materials and design maintain sonic purity
The vibrations of a loudspeaker's cabinet walls and baffles can oftencreate unwanted sonic coloration. The tri-chambered monocoque cabinets of all Definitive's C/L/R speakers are constructed of extremely thick, dense medite with foam dampening pads and extensive internal bracing to virtually eliminate cabinet coloration.

The most sophisticated drivers
The C/L/R 2300 utilizes Definitive-developed magnetically shielded, high-definition, cast-basket bass/midrange drivers for significant performance advantages in the areas of upper bass reproduction, lifelike midrange clarity and dynamic range. These drivers are engineering marvels which incorporate deeply drawn mineral-filled homopolymer cones, combined with butyl rubber dustcaps and surrounds, high temperature vented voice coils and massive magnet structures. This combination of features assures high definition, superb transient response, high efficiency, high power handling and extended linear response.

The high end
The accuracy of high-frequency reproduction sets apart a great loudspeaker from a merely good one. The magnetic fluid-cooled, moving-coil, pure aluminum dome tweeters Definitive developed for the bipolar SuperTowers bring together the performance advantages of metal domes (greater clarity) and soft domes (smoother sound and better dampening) in one unique, state-of-the-art tweeter design. The result: velvety smooth extended high-frequency response (beyond 30 kHz), greatly reduced distortion, improved transient response, notably higher definition and life-like clarity.

Crossover appeal
The crossover network of a loudspeaker is like the conductor of an orchestra, telling each driver exactly when to come in and precisely how loudly to play. Definitive's complex and sophisticated Linkwitz-Riley designs are differential crossovers which equalize the front and rear drivers separately for both linear frequency and phase response of their summed output. Also included are advanced technology Zobel Networks, which provide a more stable load for your amplifier. This makes the speaker easier to drive, which results in smooth, more natural sound. In addition, the electronic crossovers in the subwoofer modules work together with the Linkwitz-Riley networks to perfectly blend the subwoofers with the bipolar arrays.

Using three C/L/Rs across the front
Because of their superb full-range response and quality of reproduction, and the fact that they may be placed either horizontally or vertically, the C/L/Rs may be used as matching left front, center, and right speakers.
