The A5 has a built-in AC power outlet on the rear panel and a USB power port on the top panel that's perfect for powering wireless products to stream your music. Check out the Audioengine W1 Wireless Audio Adapter, Sonos, Squeezebox, or Apple's Airport Express for high-quality wireless options. The AC outlet is also ideal for powering other portable and home A/V equipment and a second auxiliary mini-jack is conveniently located nearby.

Designed for ease of setup and versatility, A5 speakers have a built-in power port for iPod charging while listening to your music or watching movies. Plug an iPod dock or iPod directly into the ComboPort™ and you're ready to rock (or roll). The ComboPort™ charger is compatible with all iPods and other products that charge via USB.
Why bamboo?
Two words: Sustainability and Sound. Bamboo is the fastest-growing woody plant in the
world. Nearly one-third of a crop of bamboo will grow back fully within one year of being
harvested, making it an excellent alternative to slow-growing hardwoods. "The strength and
hardness of bamboo gives it excellent acoustical properties, making it an ideal material for
speakers." says Audioengine co-founder David Evans. And the rich color of this Russian
bamboo doesn’t come from a paint or stain, but through a specialized heating process that
naturally carbonizes the sugar compounds in the bamboo, resulting in a deep caramel color
that makes these speakers look as good as they sound.
Getting greener
Using bamboo isn’t the only way Audioengine is working to reduce their impact on the
environment. All Audioengine speakers meet the EU’s lead-free directives and conform to
ENERGY STAR requirements. In addition to being lead-free and consuming less power when
not playing music, Audioengine uses environmentally-friendly materials and adhesives
during the manufacturing process. Packaging is also a key area where Audioengine can
make a difference. "We try to keep a minimalist approach to product design so it's natural
for us to look at product packaging in the same way." said Brady Bargenquast, Audioengine
co-founder. "And a nice result is that we lower the amount of packing materials our
customers eventually have to dispose of, while still providing excellent shipping protection."
